A lot more that a museum
The Museum of Fine Arts of Valencia, opened in 1913, is a real treasure trove for art lovers. Its vast collection ranges from medieval works of great historical and religious value to paintings by such renowned artists as Goya, Velázquez and Sorolla. Housed in the former Colegio de San Pío V, a 17th century building listed as a Historic-Artistic Monument, the museum combines the architectural splendour with its artistic richness.
Its rooms include the majestic Ambassador Vich's courtyard, The building is a reconstruction that houses Renaissance sculptures that are unique in Spain. As a curiosity, the building served as a military hospital during the Civil War and is arguably the most beautiful courtyard in the whole city.
Its location, next to the Turia Garden, and its free admission make this space a perfect place to enjoy art and culture in a relaxed environment.
