City of Arts and Sciences

When we talk about Valencia, many people automatically think of beaches, paella, faults and the City of Arts and Sciences. But this Mediterranean city hides much more than tourist postcards: it is full of real stories, unexpected corners and details that even many Valencians are unaware of.

From record-breaking buildings to century-old institutions that are still active today, we tell you about 10 curiosities that will make you look at Valencia with different eyes.

7 dream buildings

Probably the most internationally famous part of the city.

It is a huge complex of a total of 7 buildings, It is located in a park on the River Turia, full of open-air green areas where you can stroll, sunbathe and enjoy Valencia's climate, and is dedicated to artistic events of all kinds: the Science Museum, l'Umbracle, l'Hemisfèric, l'Oceanogràfic, l'Assut de l'Or Bridge, l'Ágora and the Reina Sofía Palace, and is located in the same park as the River Turia, full of open-air green areas where you can stroll, sunbathe and enjoy Valencia's climate.

Each one can be visited and represents something from nature or something very Valencian (an eye, the skeleton of a whale, the Mediterranean Sea...).

To visit this huge complex we recommend you to book at least a day and a half in your visit to Valencia and buy your tickets in advance online.

How to get there

Getting there is very easy but our recommendation is always to take a leisurely stroll from the Serranos Towers (30 minutes) to contemplate the huge old bed of the river Túria and to see the buildings of the city from another perspective.

You can also take bus numbers 95, 1, 25, 6, 35, 13, 19 and 14.
